I started taking a basic painting class at a local arts center about 25 years ago. Learning how to do fine art was something I’d always wanted to do. Ever since I was a little girl, I knew I was an artist. Growing up, I was a ballet dancer expressing my inner artistic creativity through movements with music. Now canvas is my stage. I pick up my brushes and let myself twirl.
Whatever the subject I’m seeing can be just a reference of what my inner eyes see and what comes out of it is something only I can create. I feel so fortunate to be able to do what I love to do. Thanks to my supportive family, I’m on a journey of self-discovery.
Since my painting endeavor took off, I’ve taken many art classes and workshops from various teachers. Some of them taught me basic painting techniques and skills and others taught me how to transfer my love of colors, designing elements and creative energy onto paintings and encouraged me to be out of my comfort zone. I always try to keep in mind to paint loosely and spontaneously to keep my paintings looking fresh and expressive.
I feel happy and content when making art and I hope that the art I make can give happiness and joy to the viewers as well. I’m humbled by the recognition and awards I’ve received over the years.
